Take Time to Chill and Regroup

We made it to February, those of us from the DC metro area know what I mean. It has been extremely cold here and once we get to February we start the count down to spring.  This is a meaningful month to many for multiple reasons. I will just say that time is an adversary that waits for no man, so today is the best time to reflect on the goals you set for your business and the actual things that you have created to date as we enter the second month of 2018.

I added this commercial for two reasons:

1. I thought it was so funny.
2. Imagine you are the richest person on the planet right now and you love what you do so much or you love your company that you built so much that you are engaged in a commercial even though you are not the face of your company and your having fun.

This has to be why you do what ever it is that you do. You must love what you do, the service that you provide or the product you offer in order to persevere when times are rough or when things don't go as you planned.

In this day and time many people are under a lot of pressure and stress. I recently helped a loved one through a traumatic, stressful incident and I have learned of a close family member who is now experiencing the same issue, but because of completely different reasons. The thing that ties them together is stress. They both suffered from a tremendous amount of life pressures that overwhelmed them. That is the reason I made this post about chilling out.  We must continue to pursue our dream lives, but we must also remember that we can't enjoy the fruits of our labor if we are not here when they ripen.
Try to take time daily to listen to this video or something like it. Close your eyes or imagine you are there on the beach. If you hate the beach or are allergic to the sun then listen to one of the rain videos it will have the same affect.

The lesson today is two fold. You must take time and learn to slow down, relax, stop and smell the roses. Get out and take a walk, outside in nature is always the best, but if it's too cold or too hot then go to a large mall and walk it's perimeter a few times for at least an hour and thirty minutes 3 to 5 times a week from now on.   Then get back to work on your dreams, goals and desires.

For my business owners who have yet to embrace the world wide web,  I know it is very scary, but you must become as much as you can. Your business must and shall be all it can. The Internet and social media are wonderful tools, to not only grow your presence across the globe, but to share your message with those who can learn from the success that you have experienced.

Many of the older generations of business owners still in 2018 are fearful of the technology.  You don't have to be an expert in order to use it. You tube is one of the best tools in my opinion. You can learn to do just about everything by simply typing an inquiry into the You tube channel or into Google. You will find someone out of the billions of people online who has done any and everything you aspire to do or achieve.

The goal this week for you is to learn about a new social media tool that you don't currently use.  Set up an account using your business name and most of them are free, and use it for this month just to get the hang of how it works.

This article has a great list pick one and this one is also good I do have 3 of the accounts on this list, but I will be trying 2 or more from each list. This is your assignment for your business growth to be implemented this month.

To your success,

D.S. Woodard

How to get Government Contracts, Quickly.

Great Evening High Achievers!!  There are 3 days left in this last quarter of 2023.  We made it, and we are going to be even greater in 2024.  This was a trying and a wonderful year for our business.  We have cried and laughed as we learned from trial and error how to get things done.  There are more lessons to learn and more opportunities to take advantage of.  I want to share with you a few things about getting your business out of the rat race and into the government contracting place.   Do you know what M.B.E.'s, W.B.E.'s, V.B.E.'s, D.B.E.'s, and A.C.D.B.E's are?  No this is not Sesame Street.  These letters stand for Minority Business Entity, Women Business Entity, Disadvantaged Business Entity, and Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Entity.  This is how the government classifies different types of businesses for their sponsored programs.  The statistics for the amount of contracts awarded to these entities ar...

How Do You Spell Love? Time !

Good Morning High Achievers!  The holiday season is here and spending time is so important especially now.  Happiness is an inside job.  The main reason for being great and creating a legacy is so that you leave great memories and traditions to pass from generation to generation.   This year my family and I began a new tradition for what others call Thanksgiving.  We haven't celebrated in a few years, since finding out that what we thought was the reason was not true, but we still continued to gather, now we have decided that what we would like to do is travel for this holiday, since the rest of society is closed at the same time.   As a business owner and a person who works in corporate America I've found that we can get so caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle routine that we forget to pause, relax and enjoy the fun parts in life.  We don't know how much time we have and it doesn't matter what our age is.  These are my gra...

Are You Doing Too Much? How Do You Know?

From my I-Phone  Greetings High Achievers!! It is the middle of the summer season.  It has been such a hot summer, yet I still find time to get out and walk daily.  The photo to the left is of a flock of geese crossing the lake that we walk across.  I wanted to share this for two reasons, one it's beautiful and two every photo on the internet costs money.  I understand that people like to get paid, but there was a time I could get quality photos with a few clicks.  Well what's been going on in your business world?   I have been building a few things as usual.  Many times I think I'm doing too much.  Often I think I'm not doing enough.  As soon as I think that one of my business partners decides that they want to be so active and push the business along for five minutes, and then I'm on my own again.  Have you had times of  discouragement in your business endeavors?  I'm sure we all have.  This past year I have fo...
