How To Start A Winning Business by Deona Hinton
I promise you if you want to get a good start and learn some new information that will take your business to the next level quickly sign up for her class it will be an online format so you can be where ever you are today and not have to fly to the DC metro area.
What's trending? Why not you or your business? One of the major reasons small businesses don't experience the success they desire is their owners unwillingness to embrace technology. There are actual technology companies that have gone out of business since the technology age has taken place. Anyone remember a company called Radio Shack? They always seemed to have all the latest technology right up until the early 2000's, and then the most technological offering they had was cell phones. There's also Circuit City or I mean there was. This article talks of some reasons why the company failed and it is just obvious that if you will not move forward with the times you will be left behind.
Old school is cute and I hear many business people and entrepreneurs complain about not getting it or not understanding it or it's too complicated, yet when they are ready to move a product, or service they have to rely on others or scramble to utilize the 21st century way of communicating which makes them waste time trying to gather an audience.
What you will love the most about the technology is that the majority of it is free to use. A beginning business owner can build a strong internet presence all across the globe very inexpensively, unlike the marketers of the last century that had to pay enormous sums of money to share their message, product or service outside of their local market.
Even the big boys and girls like Amazon, Doritos and other's are using the free internet. All of the Superbowl commercials were available for views immediately on YouTube, yet they paid multiple of millions of dollars to air at the big game, but to make sure they reached everyone they could they also went to the world wide web.
So are you trending? Trending is what's happening right now, and on the various social media sources you can find more about a particular topic or subject based on what usually has a hashtag # in front of it like #DSWoodardConsulting #FridayFeeling which currently has 62.3k tweets etc. You can also use what's trending to post your message that is similar so that you get a larger audience to at least view what you have to say.
If you look at our twitter feed @1Maiose or @DSWoodard.com you will see that we always post with a hashtag so that our message reaches a larger audience. Our numbers show us that it does work. The other social media works the same, but different like YouTube has a tab that says Trending you click that and all the videos that are trending appear in order from most to least popular by current number of views.
My last post suggested that we pick two social media companies to sign up with and learn for this month how they operate and can be useful in our businesses. I didn't think that some may not have Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram the 3 most popular, but if you don't get them and when you are signing up for your business make sure you brand your company, which means don't have twitter name one thing, Face Book name something else. It can be a challenge if you have a typical name, but this is when you have to be creative.
When helping my daughter brand her company's social media presence like her I.G @theetattedchef & Twitter @theetattedchef this is a very popular name, but if you notice the spelling is Thee Tatted Chef and everyone else is The Tatted Chef also don't be @theoneandonly456(fictitious name), that only means that there are 455 people who share that same name, so use creativity if your first second or thirty third choices are taken it will help you stand out when you start to expand and want to tell someone to google you.
We will talk more about branding in another post.
Don't forget to check out Ms. Deona Hinton and her course on how to start a winning business, this link is part 2 and has some early tips for you to follow before you get started.
Don't forget the best way to trend is to share with those you care about if you share they share and the message is sent around the globe. You may have a prosperous business but your cousin or a co-worker who follows you may be interested and never told you, so please be kind and share this post on your social media, what goes around comes back around so when you do good good comes back to you.
To your success,
DS Woodard
