Moving Outside your Comfort Zone

The first day of fall and the thoughts about how am I doing in this class and am I going to make it or will I pass are what's going through most students minds right now.  I know, because I have a college student and these are the things she's thinking about right now.

Well if you are a student of any kind and it's just the first full month of school and you have not received a progress report from your teacher, professor, or instructor you are at least wondering how you are doing.  Know this, if you are giving it your best, turning in your assignments on time, and taking notes in class your OKThe grades are important however it is what you retain that really matters.  Are you able to apply what you have learned so far in order to grow to where you want to be?  That is the real purpose in learning.  Can you take what you are learning and  move in a positive direction at some point in your life?

When this school year ends and you move to the next level, will you be prepared? Will you be confident?  Can you write that essay that gets you that scholarship?  Can you present that resume' that gets you that job you want?  That is what you have to consider now.  This should be your focus for the success you desire.

How do you move outside of your comfort zone?  Think with the end in mind.  What is my goal for next year, in 5 years, 10 years, 25 years?  Most of us don't want to, but time continues on and if we fail to plan then we plan to fail.  Look at others in your life who are not living the life they want because they just went with the flow and time has continued to move and they are living very uncomfortable lives.

If your plan for next year is college have you visited the college of your choice? Have you visited a college?  Do you know how much it cost? Do you know how you are going to pay for it?  What is the criteria to get in?  Have you taken the SAT?  What is your current GPA?  Before you know it the 2011/2012 School year will be a memory and if you are not ready for what's next life will continue on.  So get out of your comfort zone, do the research or seek help and guidance from professionals like us at DS Woodard Consulting.  There is a maze of information and steps and processes that are necessary to achieve your goals, but it can be done, you just have to be willing to be a little uncomfortable now for the comfortable life you want later.

Take action today, do 2 things that move you closer to what you want in the future.  Go to the college website and check the prospective students info tab.  Apply for the F.A.F.S.A, you can do it on line, but you will need your parents last year income tax information.  There are other things you can do it's up to you, make a decision and then move on it.

How to get Government Contracts, Quickly.

Great Evening High Achievers!!  There are 3 days left in this last quarter of 2023.  We made it, and we are going to be even greater in 2024.  This was a trying and a wonderful year for our business.  We have cried and laughed as we learned from trial and error how to get things done.  There are more lessons to learn and more opportunities to take advantage of.  I want to share with you a few things about getting your business out of the rat race and into the government contracting place.   Do you know what M.B.E.'s, W.B.E.'s, V.B.E.'s, D.B.E.'s, and A.C.D.B.E's are?  No this is not Sesame Street.  These letters stand for Minority Business Entity, Women Business Entity, Disadvantaged Business Entity, and Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Entity.  This is how the government classifies different types of businesses for their sponsored programs.  The statistics for the amount of contracts awarded to these entities ar...

How Do You Spell Love? Time !

Good Morning High Achievers!  The holiday season is here and spending time is so important especially now.  Happiness is an inside job.  The main reason for being great and creating a legacy is so that you leave great memories and traditions to pass from generation to generation.   This year my family and I began a new tradition for what others call Thanksgiving.  We haven't celebrated in a few years, since finding out that what we thought was the reason was not true, but we still continued to gather, now we have decided that what we would like to do is travel for this holiday, since the rest of society is closed at the same time.   As a business owner and a person who works in corporate America I've found that we can get so caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle routine that we forget to pause, relax and enjoy the fun parts in life.  We don't know how much time we have and it doesn't matter what our age is.  These are my gra...

Are You Doing Too Much? How Do You Know?

From my I-Phone  Greetings High Achievers!! It is the middle of the summer season.  It has been such a hot summer, yet I still find time to get out and walk daily.  The photo to the left is of a flock of geese crossing the lake that we walk across.  I wanted to share this for two reasons, one it's beautiful and two every photo on the internet costs money.  I understand that people like to get paid, but there was a time I could get quality photos with a few clicks.  Well what's been going on in your business world?   I have been building a few things as usual.  Many times I think I'm doing too much.  Often I think I'm not doing enough.  As soon as I think that one of my business partners decides that they want to be so active and push the business along for five minutes, and then I'm on my own again.  Have you had times of  discouragement in your business endeavors?  I'm sure we all have.  This past year I have fo...
